11 and 12 ACT Junior Championships a success for CNA!

The ACT Junior Championships are the pinnacle of our representative season at CNA. Over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of August, our u11 and u12 Maroon and Skye teams participated in what is a massive weekend of Netball against all ACT associations - Arawang, Belconnen, South Canberra and Tuggeranong. Teams played in four rounds against each association on the Saturday, before beginning with Semi-Finals on Sunday morning. We at CNA are extremely proud of our four teams as all made it into the Semi-Finals!

u11 Skye won their semi against Arawang by 4, advancing onto the Grand Final where they came up against a very strong Tuggeranong team. Down by 2 at 3/4 time, tired bodies got the better of them and Skye finished Runners up, 11-16.

u11 Maroon came up against Tuggeranong in their semi final, who unfortunately were too strong for our team, winning 27-36. This however, was not without a fight! The girls worked hard on all their skills right until the very end and should be extremely proud of their efforts.

u12 Skye had a very strong campaign, coming into semi finals undefeated awarding them the much coveted first position in the 1v4 semi final. They came out strong against Belconnen, winning 22-13 to advance to the grand final, played against Tuggeranong. During rounds, 12 Skye beat TNA in the last minute by only one point so this game was sure to be a nail biter! The team worked together to bring some beautiful netball to the court, and became champions, 17-13. Well done!

u12 Maroon likewise had a strong campaign during rounds, losing only to Tuggeranong in round 3. They came up against South Canberra in the 2v3 semi final and came away with a 35-21 win! Their grand final was contested between CNA and Tuggeranong and was the final game in the Junior Championships for 2017. 12 Maroon were not going to go down without a fight after losing during rounds - and they didn't! They were crowned champions, defeating Tuggeranong 23-20!

CNA congratulates all athletes for their 2017 season and thanks their coaches, Mel (u11 Maroon), Katherine B (u11 Skye), Amy (u12 Maroon) and Carolina and Steph (u12 Skye) for their dedication to our program, creating the bricks and cement that make Champions!
