Development Programs

Canberra Netball Association runs several structured athlete development programs.

Junior Academy is a development program for young netballers run over four weeks during school term 4 (November - December) providing a graduated skills development program based on quality coaching and talent management to prepare players for the demands of higher level competition and junior representative selection trials.

Extension Training for Excelling Netballers’ Development. The EXTEND program is aimed at athletes who demonstrate exceptional skills and potential for development. Players participating in CNA's Junior Representative program with the potential for future involvement in CNA State League and ACT State programs are identified as candidates for a squad who participate in a specialised coaching program in the lead up to ACT Junior Championships. The program provides an opportunity for athletes to extend and develop their skills in a challenging and intense training environment.  EXTEND generally runs for 6 weeks starting in May with fortnightly training sessions.

STEER (16-18 Development Squad)
Sixteen to Eighteen Extended Representative Program.  CNA's STEER program is for players aged approximately 16-18 years established to address the gap in the player pathway between the junior representative program and senior state league competition. The development squad provides high level training for athletes that wish to play representative netball for CNA in the future. The program provides regular training with the opportunity to develop netball skills that put players in the best position to be selected for Junior State League and Senior State League the following year.

The program exposes athletes to a higher level of competition and coaching to meet CNA's and players development needs.  The program runs from approximately April to July.
